A form takes shape.

Stoneware clay is centred, opened, and drawn up on the wheel. Each curve is considered; each small variation is part of the hand that made it.

Time does its work.

The piece dries slowly, is trimmed to refine its balance, and receives its first firing. A patient process gives the form room to become itself.

Clay meets fire.

Studio glazes bring the surface to life. A final Cone 6 firing completes the transformation from raw clay to a piece ready for its next chapter.

Do I need prior experience to join a workshop?

Not at all. Our Intro to Wheel Throwing sessions are designed specifically for first-time potters. We walk you step-by-step through wedging, centering, pulling walls, and shaping your pieces on the wheel.

When and how do I pay for my class or private event?

Payment is only taken after our short studio agreement/contract is signed and agreed upon. Once you reach out via email, we confirm your slot, send over the agreement terms, and issue payment instructions (Zelle, Venmo, Apple Pay, or cash) only after both parties have signed off.

What should I wear to class?

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that you do not mind getting dirty—pottery clay washes out of most natural fabrics, but splatters happen. For the best throwing experience: trim your fingernails short (long nails make centering and shaping difficult), tie back long hair, and remove rings, watches, and wrist jewelry before sitting at the wheel.

When will my finished pieces be ready for pickup?

Ceramics cannot be rushed. Your pieces need to dry slowly over several days to prevent cracking, undergo an initial bisque firing (1,800°F), receive hand-dipped glaze, and go through a final high-heat vitrification firing at Cone 6 (2,232°F). The entire process takes approximately 3 weeks. We will notify you via text or email as soon as your work is unloaded from the kiln.

What happens if I cannot pick up my pottery immediately?

Due to limited shelf space in an active working studio, we hold finished student work for 30 days following your pickup notification. Work left unclaimed after 30 days will be recycled or donated.

What is your class cancellation and reschedule policy?

Because our classes are strictly capped at 6 participants, every seat matters: • 7+ days before class: Full refund or reschedule to an open slot. • Within 48 to 72 hours: 50% credit toward a future session. • Under 48 hours or no-shows: Non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.

Studio policies & safety.

Working in a ceramics studio involves physical movement, rotating mechanical equipment (pottery wheels), raw mineral materials, and wet surfaces. By entering the studio, booking a session, or purchasing studio work, you agree to the following terms:

01 / Agreement & Payment Terms

To protect both the student and the studio, seat reservations, commissioned work, and item sales are finalized through a written studio agreement. Payment will be taken only after the contract is signed and agreed upon by both parties.

02 / Equipment & Safety Rules

Participants agree to operate all studio tools and machinery strictly as instructed by the studio facilitator. Loose clothing, long jewelry, and untied hair must be secured before using the pottery wheels.

03 / Physical Nature of Ceramics

Clay dust and wet floors are inherent to the craft. While the studio maintains rigorous safety and ventilation protocols, visitors are expected to practice basic spatial awareness and follow clean-up procedures to minimize slip and trip hazards.

04 / Kiln Access

For your safety, the kiln room and all firing equipment are strictly off-limits to workshop attendees.

05 / Clay Outcomes Disclaimer

Working with clay involves risks beyond our control during drying and high-heat firings. While we take the utmost care with every student creation, occasional cracking, glaze flaws, or kiln breakages can happen. These are natural elements of ceramic learning, and refunds are not issued for damaged pieces.

06 / Release of Liability

By signing your studio agreement, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation and hold the studio, its owners, and instructors harmless from any personal injury, property damage, or lost personal items occurring on the premises.
